Blue Badge Scheme
Parking concessions for disabled people who are drivers or passengers. If you think you may be entitled to a badge contact one of the centres where you live. Worcestershire County Council encourages online applications.

National Shopmobility Organisation
Shopmobility is a service that helps all people who consider themselves to have mobility problems (whether through disability, illness or injury) to continue to get around city and town centres independently, with freedom confidence and dignity. National Star College
LIFT (learning independence for travel) is a programme developed through The National Star College and funded through Worcestershire County Council. It empowers disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable people with the skills and confidence to trevel independently to schools, colleges, employment and other locations. The programme offers one to one personalised learning.

Community Transport Connections
This service provides transport to either Alexandra or Worcestershire Royal Hospital for residents who have no access to any other form of transport. Journeys must be pre-booked.
A network of independent organisations covering England, who offer professional, high quality, information, advice and assessment to individuals who have a medical condition or are recovering from an accident or injury which may affect their ability to drive, access or egress a motor vehicle.

This is a scheme whereby those in receipt of the higher rate of the mobility component of DLA or enhanced mobility component of PIP can use their allowance to get a vehicle or wheelchair, as long as the award is for one year or longer.

Exemption from Road Tax
You are entitled to exemption from road tax if you are in receipt of the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP and the high rate mobility component of DLA or War Pensioners Mobility Supplement.
You can get a 50% discount if you are on PIP mobility at the standard rate.
Radar National Key Scheme
Provides toilets which are accessible for wheelchair users, many of these are kept locked to stop vandalism and controlled by the Radar key

Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC)
The Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee’s website provides comprehensive information on its role in advising the Government on the transport needs of disabled people.
You may be eligible for free travel on local bus services between 9.30a.m. and 23.00 weekdays and all day on weekends and bank holidays.

Travel by Train
British Rail sell a railcard for people with severe and permanent disabilities. They also publish a booklet entitled ‘Rail Travel for Disabled Passengers’ which contains useful information about planning your journey. This is also available online plus an application form for a railcard.
